Femi Falana (SAN), petitions Blogger, Kemi Olunloyo Over insensitive remark on Sylvester's tragic demise

Blogger, Kemi Olunloyo was petitioned by Femi Falana (SAN).

The human right lawyer, sent a petition to the Deputy Commissioner, Lagos police command to invite the blogger over a comment she made in respect to the death of 12 years old Sylvester Oromoni Jnr.

Sylvester's case generated public backlash a few weeks ago, when one of his relations lamented his death on the microblogging platform, Twitter.

He brought to the limelight the cruelty inflicted on the young boy. He alleged that Sylvester was tortured to death at Dowen College over his refusal to join a cult.

News of Sylvester's death has continued to attract the fury of Nigerians as many have called on the authorities to bring the culprits to justice.

The Lagos State police command confirmed that five persons in connection to the death of the deceased were questioned by its operatives and investigation is still on going.

However, Kemi Olunloyo, in her reaction to the incident, asserted that the deceased drank engine oil as part of the cult initiation process, adding that Oromoni was not bullied.

She stated below,

#Justiceforsylvester Sylvester Oromoni's death involved HAZING he allegedly participated in. It is important for Nigerians to know that hazing is a crime in many countries but NOT in Nigeria. The bulk of the investigation should focus on adult supervision when this was going."

Olunloyo made an audiotape, in which she insisted that the late Sylvester Oromoni who died under very controversial circumstances at Dowen College, willingly participated in a cult initiation procedure to join a boy's gang, by drinking engine oil.

She was also on a live YouTube chat with Daddy Freeze, a  Nigerian radio broadcaster  to assert her claims.

Her comment sparked an out cry and angry reactions from Nigerians who condemned her for making such a remark.

  1. Well, I hope by the time Femi Falana is done with her, she will be able to remain silent forever. There are some boundaries you don't cross, and she, Kemi don't know just when to stop. Very insensitive remarks coming from her.

Great News! Drug Charges Dropped!-Blessing Okagbare

There were strong indications yesterday that the United States may have dropped ‘all charges’ against Nigerian sprinter, Blessing Okagbare, who is serving a 10-year ban over drugs offences. Okagbare was provisionally suspended for testing positive for human growth hormone in July 2021, just hours before her 100m semifinals at Tokyo Olympics. She was later handed a 10-year ban by the world anti-doping agency (WADA). Before then, Okagbare was under investigation by an American agency for some other misdemeanours. The U.S. Federal authorities had searched Okagbare’s cellphone on her return to the country from the Tokyo Olympics and found she had frequently communicated with Eric Lira, a kinesiologist and naturopathic doctor, who was said to have brought ‘misbranded’ versions of the drugs to the U.S. from Central and South America before distributing them to athletes. But a source close to World Athletics told The Guardian yesterday that the U.S. has dropped ‘all charges’ against Oka...
