Senator Abaribe Enyinnaya Harcourt-Interested, Abia Guber Election

 Just in: Abaribe declares interest for 2023 guber election in Abia.

Senate Minority Leader and Senator representing Abia South district, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, has confirmed his rumoured governorship ambition in 2023.

Senator Abaribe made the confirmation Monday, while fielding questions from news men after a grand civic reception in his honour by Nzuko Ahiaba la Abayi in Obingwa and Aba North Local Government Areas.

The former Deputy Governor said he had already formerly informed Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of his ambition to succeed him come 2023.

Senator Abaribe who was earlier conferred with the chieftaincy title of ” Maduforo Nde Ngwa” (We still have remnants), expressed delight over the recognition.

He said the honour would spur him into more patriotic actions for not just his constituency but the state, Ndi Igbo and Nigeria at large.

Senator Abaribe who said he had suffered persecutions because of his stance against injustice and oppression, declared that no amount of persecution would deter him from standing with the truth.

In a remark, Chairman of the occasion and former Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara, described Abaribe as a vibrant and seasoned lawmaker.

Wabara acknowledged  that Abaribe who succeeded him at the Senate had posted tremendous achievements at the red chamber.

Speaking also, former Senate President and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, said Abaribe had remained an irrepressible voice at the Senate

Anyim who described Abaribe as a resourceful Senator and an asset said he the Senate Minority Leader could be trusted for any higher responsibility.

Some of the dignitaries at the glamorous event were the Peoples Democratic Party PDP governorship candidate in the November 6 Anambra election, Valentine Ozigbo; former Nigeria Ambassador to Argentina, Ambassador Empire Kunu; and former Minister for Defense, Thompson Aguiyi-Ironsi.

The event also witnessed the presence of federal and state lawmakers as well as politicians from within and outside Abia State.

Enyinnaya Harcourt Abaribe is a Nigerian politician who was elected to the Abia-South Senatorial District of Abia State in the Senate of Nigeria in April 2007.

In A Random Attack, A Woman Is Lit On Fire On A Toronto bus; Man Apprehended, Police Say

Dundas, Kipling Centre. A woman lays in the hospital with critical injuries, she was set ablaze on a Toronto bus in what police say was a "random" attack.  The woman in her 20's was attacked by a 35-year-old man. The woman remains in hospital with life-altering injuries, most of which are second and third-degree burns, media relations officer Toronto police Const. Alex Li told reporters outside Kipling station, where the incident took place. The suspect has been arrested with charges pending, police say. Toronto police were called to the Kipling Avenue and Dundas Street West area around 12:30 p.m. for reports of a woman being assaulted. Police say a man poured a liquid substance on the woman and ignited it, causing a fire. The woman was rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital. There's no word on her current condition. About two years ago, one Nigerian government official whom I know visited the United Kingdom.                                    Trees Beautifully Grown In Nigeria  It was that peak period of covid crisis, where many countries had various Covid containment regulations to help reduce the spread.  On the day he was to return to Nigeria, I was one of those who escorted him to the Airport.  When we got to the Airport, we realised that he was supposed to have a Covid test done, and the result uploaded to Nigerian Govt Portal.
