One doctor said 15% of children who tested positive for the Covid variant, also presented with a rash.

Dr David Lloyd told Sky News: "Things like fatigue, a headache and loss of appetite seem to be quite important, as does a rash.

We’ve always had a small cohort of patients with Covid who are getting funny rashes but up to 15% of the Omicron children are getting an unusual rash.

So we’re starting to learn a little bit more about the virus and we are starting to look out for it."

Other symptoms children appear to develop include a high temperature, a new, continuous cough, and a loss or change to sense of smell or taste.

Parents are being urged not to take flu-like symptoms lightly and to get their children tested.

Omicron appears to be milder than previous circulating coronavirus, the World Health Organization says, causing it to cause more cold-like symptoms.

This could be a result of vaccination - and children under 12 have not received jabs in the UK.

However, kids as young as five are reportedly set to be given Covid jabs as the fight against the Omicron variant ramps up - with the NHS "preparing for a mass vaccine drive" in schools.

It comes after figures show cases in nurseries have risen by 38% in one week.

According to ZOE COVID Study incidence figures, Covid cases are set to top 200,000 a day- with a 'worrying' rise in one vulnerable age group, according to ZOE COVID Study incidence figures.

Currently, there are 192,290 new daily symptomatic cases of Covid in the UK on average, based on PCR and LFT test data from up to three days ago - an increase of 33%.

Cases are rising in all regions, particularly in the North West, which has a R value of 1.3. However, cases continue to be higher in London than any other region.

It is also now reported 75% of people with cold-like symptoms now having Covid.

The rise in cases appears to be slowing in the 0-55 age groups., but rising sharply in the 55-75 age groups, with the report saying this is a "worrying" trend given this group is more at risk of hospitalisation

A man who got into the grounds of Windsor Castle armed with a crossbow told police he wanted to “kill the queen,” prosecutors said during a court hearing Wednesday. Jaswant Singh Chail, 20, is charged under the Treason Act with intending to “injure the person of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, or to alarm her Majesty.” He has also been charged with threats to kill and possession of an offensive weapon. Prosecutor Kathryn Selby said the Supersonic X-Bow weapon allegedly carried by Chail had the potential to cause “serious or fatal injuries.” Prosecution lawyers maintain Chail wanted revenge on the Brit...
