Nigeria says it has identified 96 sponsors of terror groups

The Nigerian government on Thursday said it has uncovered 96 financiers of terrorist groups Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Nigeria’s information and culture minister Lai Mohammed made the disclosure at a press conference in Abuja.

Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), in 2020-2021, revealed 96 financiers of terrorism in Nigeria,” Mohammed said.

Mohammed said the NFIU had intelligence exchanges on Boko Haram, ISWAP, banditry, kidnapping and others with 19 countries.

The minister disclosed that 424 associates and supporters of the financiers were also uncovered.

Mohammed said about 123 companies and 33 Bureau de change were linked to terrorists in addition to 26 suspected bandits/kidnappers and seven co-conspirators who have now been identified.

Breaking! Governorship, State Assembly Elections Postponed By The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) To March 18, 2023

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reached a decision to postpone Saturday’s governorship and state assembly elections to March 18, 2023. The postponement was due to the commission’s inability to promptly commence reconfiguration of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines utilized during the February 25 presidential election to enable their use in the state elections. INEC was earlier restrained from tampering with the information embedded in the BVAS machines until due inspection was conducted and Certified True Copies (CTC) issued to candidates who are challenging the outcome of the presidential election.

The panel convened following an update from the Food and Drug Administration on the risk of rare but potentially life-threatening blood clots linked to the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.  At least 54 people in the U.S., most of them women, have been hospitalized by the blood clots, and nine people have died. "Today’s updated recommendation emphasizes CDC’s commitm...
