Biden says ISIS leader died by suicide bomb in 'desperate act of cowardice,' vows to hunt terrorists down

The president gave the final go-ahead for the operation that resulted in the death of Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi on Tuesday, an administration official said.

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden on Thursday said an overnight raid by U.S. special forces in northwest Syria had resulted in the death of the leader of the Islamic State terrorism group, Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi, in one of the most significant counterterrorism operations of his presidency to date.

"As our troops approached to capture the terrorist, in a final act of desperate cowardice, with no regard to the lives of his own family or others the building, he chose to blow himself up," Biden said at the White House.

"Last night's operation took a major terrorist threat off the battlefield and has sent a strong message to terrorists around the world: We will come after you and find you," he said. "Once again today, we continue our unceasing effort to keep the American people safe and strengthen the security of our allies and partners around the world."

Football lovers are in for a cruise as organizers of the highly anticipated FIFA World Cup in Qatar have chartered another cruise ship to accommodate Football World Cup 2022 guests. The cruise ships will provide more than 1000 rooms to the fans coming to attend the month-long event. The World Cup will begin on November 20th and an estimated 1.5 million people will arrive in Qatar for this event. Doha, the capital city of Qatar has a hotel room capacity of 31,000. This number does not even come close to the number of rooms required for the event. Qatari Organizers are on a war footing trying to arrange accommodations for the fans of the FIFA World Cup, who will start arriving shortly. Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex have donated an undisclosed sum to charities working in Nigeria via their Foundation, the Archewell Foundation. The amount donated (unspecified) is for victims devastated by the flood ravishing parts of Nigeria. About 1.3 million people have been displaced by the floods. The flooding has killed over 600 people and injuring more than 2,400. According to Sky News, in a press release, a Spotify representative confirmed the Archewell Foundation had made donations to both UNICEF and Save the Children. While Nigeria typically experiences seasonal flooding, the floods are the worst the country has seen since the 2012 major flood which displaced more than 2.1 million people. The spokesperson said the donations, of an undisclosed amount, would “help provide relief following devastating floods wreaking havoc in Nigeria”.
