• Brazilian footballers and their families in war-torn Ukraine have appealed to their government for an evacuation out of the country

• Several Brazilian players from Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Kyiv are gathered in a hotel in the Ukrainian capital

• Shakhtar player Junior Moraes said 'the situation is one of despair' and said the group is 'gathered waiting for a plan to leave Ukraine'He added that borders are closed after Vladimir Putin ordered an invasion

Padma Lakshmi, ex wife to Salman Rushdie, is supporting her ex-husband in his recovery. On Friday, the famed author, Salman Rushdie was stabbed multiple times while on stage in New York City.
