Senate Presidency: News of Yari’s Imminent Arrest Excites Akpabio’s Supporters.

Barely 24 hours to the election of the presiding officers of the National Assembly, supporters of former Akwa-Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, have started celebrating over a fast-circulating rumour that an aspirant for the position of Senate President, Abdulaziz Yari, would soon be arrested by security agents and whisked away from Abuja before Tuesday morning.

• Nigeria issues alert over fresh disease outbreak, warns against eating ‘pomo’The government advised Nigerians against the consumption of hides (pomo), smoked meat and bushmeat, to avoid possible spread.

The Nigerian government has issued a fresh alert over a possible outbreak of a bacterial disease that “affects both animals and man”.

A statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), said the zoonotic disease that is known as anthrax, has now been confirmed within the West African sub-region; specifically, Northern Ghana bordering Burkina Faso and Togo.

The National Assembly Inauguration: Akpabio, Yari, Abbas, Wase Slug It Out Today

Barring any last-minute change, 469 federal lawmakers will, today, elect four presiding officers of the 10th National Assembly.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a proclamation letter for the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly in line with the 1999 Constitution.

President Bola Tinubu on Monday said he is aware that the decision of the government to do away with the payment of fuel subsidy would “impose an extra burden on the masses of our people” adding that the way forward is for Nigerians to sacrifice for the survival of the country.

APC Convention Holds 26th March 2022

The  All Progressives Congress (APC) ha s now scheduled it's National Convention for..,. The convention will now hold on March 26, the date earlier slated for the conduct of its zonal congresses. Sen. John Akpankudohede, National Secretary, CECPC, APC said this when he spoke with newsmen shortly after the committee’s closed-door meeting in Abuja on Monday. "Activities for the National Convention would commence on February 24," Akpankudohede said.
