● ASUU: Varsities hold emergency meetings on resumption.

Following the suspension of the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, findings by our correspondent revealed that public universities across the country have made plans for special meetings of senate councils in preparation for examinations and resumption.

● Zamfara shuts media houses for covering PDP rally.

The Zamfara State Government has shut down three television stations and an FM radio station.

The affected media stations are the Nigeria Television Authority, Gamji TV, Al-Umma TV and Pride FM radio, all in Gusau, the state capital.

In a radio broadcast, the state Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Dosara, said the media houses were shut down for allegedly violating professional ethics.

● NDLEA raids FCT, 1 2 states, nabs pregnant woman, 27 others for illicit drugs.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested a pregnant woman,  nursing mother, a 200-level university student and  26 others with 9,437.6 kilogrammes of Cannabis sativa and 138,053 tablets of pharmaceutical opioids, among other illicit drugs.

● Security outfit uncovers another oil theft spot.

Another breach on the 400,000 bpd Trans Forcados Export pipeline from where large quantities of crude oil had beenstolen, was discovered at the weekend by Tantita Security Services Ltd (TSSNL), the surveillance outfit of Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo.

● Atiku under attack over northern presidency speech.


The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar came under attacks from many quarters over his call for a northern presidency in 2023 at the weekend.

Atiku had said only a northern presidency is desirable, stating Nigerians don’t need a Yoruba or Igbo to become president.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) said Atiku’s statement was an attack on national unity.

● Ailing APC Presidential Candidate, Tinubu Goofs In Kaduna, Says Governor El-Rufai Turned ‘Rotten Situation To Bad One’.

The incident has sparked rumours that Tinubu who just returned from London where he went to see his doctors might be suffering from dementia.
He was speaking at the seventh edition of KadInvest, an annual event organised by the Kaduna State Investment Promotion Agency.
“We’re not going to let you run away, your vision, creativity and resiliency in turning a rotten situation to a bad one is necessary at this critical time, that’s why we are here today,” Tinubu told El-Rufai.
In July, the APC Presidential Candidate also forgot the name of his party during an interview.

● Peter Obi opens up on receiving private jets donation from eminent Nigerians.

Reports claimed that some eminent Nigerians donated personal jets to Obi’s presidential campaign.

Condemning such reports, Obi described such viral claims as false.

In a series of tweets, Obi wrote:
“Recently, several social media reports have alluded that some eminent Nigerians have donated their personal jets for my use during my campaign.

“In as much as I appreciate the expression of such hopes, I have never received any of such offer.”

NLC To Embark On A Strike Action If....

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), national president, Comrade Joe Ajaero, during the African Trade Union Alliance meeting in Abuja. Has issued a threat to embark on a nationwide strike without any notification if the pump price of fuel sells above the current price of N617. Media reports indicated an imminent increase in the price to N720. The NNPC Limited has not made any official announcement of a fuel price increment According to Ajaero, there were purported plans to further increase the pump price of petrol, which he expressed dismay that the development will cause additional and untold hardship on Nigerians.
