A day is set for the coronation of King Charles III, it is to be held on Saturday 6 May, at Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace has announced.
"The Coronation will reflect the monarch's role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry," the palace said in a statement.
Queen Camilla, the Queen Consort, will be crowned in the historic event alongside her husband, the King.
British monarchs have been coronated for the last 900 years, at Westminster Abbey, thereby maintaining a royal tradition.
King Charles became monarch when his mother the late Queen died, but the coronation will mark a symbolic celebration of his new reign. The King will be anointed as sovereign and a crown placed on his head.
Queen Elizabeth's coronation was held in 1953.
The historic ceremony will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
