Both the Senate and the House, within the week, passed the 2023-2025 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF/FSP), in preparation for the presentation.

• Appeal Court orders ASUU to call off strike.

The Court of Appeal granted ASUU permission to file its appeal against the Nigerian government on the condition that the union calls off its strike immediately.

The Court of Appeal in Abuja, on Friday, ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off its strike.

The court gave the order after dismissing the union’s application for a stay of execution of an earlier ruling of the National Industrial Court directing the university lecturers to resume work.

The three-member panel of the Court of Appeal led by Hamma Barka granted the union permission to appeal the ruling of the industrial court but ruled that it must first resume work to be allowed to file the appeal.

While he was away, reports were suggesting that Tinubu was ill and could be receiving medical attention in London.

• Three killed in attack on Delta EFCC officials.

Delta State Government has called for calm after an attack on officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission by some youths suspected to be Internet fraudsters in the Ughelli area of Delta State, where three youths were allegedly killed and 12 trucks burnt.

The youths in Ughelli on Tuesday carried out a protest over the alleged arrest of their members by EFCC officials which later turned bloody.

The Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, said state government had ordered for investigation.

Breaking! BDC Operators Close Operations In Abuja - Over Dollar Scarcity

Bureau De Change operators have announced shut down of operations in Abuja as a result of unavailability of the dollars,  The Chairman of the association, Abdullahi Dauran, made the announcement on Wednesday. The chairman of the Association of Bureau De Change Abuja chapter, issued the directive to stop sales as the exchange rates in both the official and parallel markets have become unfavourable. Dauran attributed the closure to online business transactions and cryptocurrency. Echoblog spoke to Jamilu a BDC owner who also confirmed the news. The closure of business would take effect from Thursday, February 1, 2024. On Tuesday naira closed at an all-time low of N1,482 against the United States dollar on the official window. It stayed stable at N1,450/$ at the parallel market.
