Bravo! The World's Population Reaches Eight Billion People Today, On Planet Earth

The Day of 8 Billion, November 15th, 2022.

The Day of Eight Billion, being marked at 8:00 UTC on November 15, 2022, has been designated by the United Nations as the approximate day when the world population reached eight billion people.[2] It follows the Day of Seven Billion, which was marked on October 31, 2011, and the Day of Six Billion, which was marked on October 12, 1999.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres described the milestone as an occasion to "celebrate our diversity, recognize our common humanity, and marvel at advancements in health" while considering "our shared responsibility to care for our planet and … one another."

The date in 2022 was selected based on data projections by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA).

Queen Elizabeth II, the UK's longest-serving monarch, has died at Balmoral aged 96, after reigning for 70 years. In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.
