Today, Wednesday morning, the N200, N500 and N1,000 denomination of the redesigned naira notes was unveiled. President Muhammadu Buhari unveiled the new currency notes on Wednesday morning before the federal executive council (FEC) meeting at the state house, Abuja. "The naira notes are long overdue for a change as the current tender has been in circulation for nearly 20 years," the President said. "A cycle of banknote redesign is generally aimed at achieving specific objectives, including but not limited to: improving the security of banknotes, mitigating counterfeiting, preserving the collective national heritage, controlling currency in circulation, and reducing the overall cost of currency management,” he said. Kanye West’s Twitter account, was locked on Oct. 9 for a violation of the social media platform’s policies after he was suspended over antisemitic posts and comments. A staff of one of the Non-Governmental Organisations providing humanitarian support in the North-East was shot dead by a soldier.  The Nigerian army has confirmed via it's Army spokesperson, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, that a soldier with the 25 Task Force Brigade in Borno ran amuck on Thursday, shot and killed a female humanitarian aid worker, while injuring a UN pilot. The soldier also killed one of his colleagues who tried to disarm him. The Army further disclosed that the soldier also killed a fellow soldier and maimed the co-pilot of one of the United Nations helicopters. The Ooni Ex-Queen Naomi - Ooni Of Ife Drags Brother Inlaw To Court Over Illegal Conversion Of N26M. The Ooni of Ife takes his ex-Queen Naomi’s brother to Court over illegal conversion of N26m. The police in Ondo have charged Ogunseyi Akinfolarin, a former brother-in-law of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, with forgery and illegal conversion of N26 million. The accused is the brother of  Naomi Silekunola, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife. TNG TheNewsGuru reports that Akinfolarin was accused of forging the Atibiti Faaye family’s receipt for the acquisition of 32 parcels of land. He was charged with three counts of forgery and illegal conversion of money. One of the charges read: “That you, Ogunseyi Akinfolarin, fraudulently convert the sum of N26m being proceeds of the sale of plots of land belonging to Atibuti Oni at Akure, Ondo State.” The alleged offenses are punishable under sections 467 and 390(8)(b) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol 1 Laws of Ondo State 2006.
