Bola Ahmed Tinubu - I Have Met With A Delegation Of Northern Pentecostal Bishops

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, says he met with Pentecostal Bishops Forum of Northern Nigeria on Thursday to discuss important national issues. The forum was led by Archbishop John Praise of Dominion Chapel International Church, Abuja.

"Earlier today at a lively, productive and amiable meeting with a delegation representing the Pentecostal Bishops Forum of Northern Nigeria, we discussed important issues of national significance as well as my determination to deliver unity, harmony and lasting peace to Nigeria,” The forum was led by Archbishop John Praise of Dominion Chapel International Church, Abuja.

This is coming admist continuous backlash and heavy criticism by some Nigerians on the APC's decision to flaunt a Muslim Muslim ticket in the forth coming Presidential election.

Notable is the Northern APC Christian leaders, led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, they have publicly express their rejection for Tinubu’s decision to select a Muslim running mate from the North. The group swore to work against Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.

Mr Lawal described the decision as “demonic plot” to eliminate northern Christians from positions of power.

Likewise, Honourable, Yakubu Dogara, a. former Speaker of the House of Representatives made renewed threats to mobilise northern Christian electorate to vote against Tinubu in the February 25, 2023 poll.

Dogara had predicted that adopting a Muslim-Muslim ticket was a fruitless political effort that was “doomed to end in spectacular failure.”

Yakubu Dogara, made the statement while delivering his keynote address at a summit tagged ‘Meet The Church,’ organised by the Nigeria National Christian Coalition on Tuesday.

FG DECLARES BANDITS AS TERRORIST

Finally, FG declares bandits as terrorists. The Federal Government of Nigeria, has declared bandits as terrorists, The PUNCH has learnt. After weeks of footdragging, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), gazetted a court judgement that ordered the government to declare bandits as terrorists. States in the North-West geopolitical zone including Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto and Kaduna have been ravaged by banditry in the last year. The nefarious activities of the marauders have also spilt into the North Central and other zones in the country. The bandits have killed hundreds of innocent persons, kidnapped several others including schoolchildren, with some still in their custody, while some are nursing injuries sustained during the attacks. National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS Vows To Extend Protest

The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, yesterday halted activities at the Murtala Muhammad Airport, Ikeja, in protest against the continued strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, which has kept students at home for over seven months. The students’ body also vowed to extend the protest to the Apapa Wharf and Tin Can Island ports and the Third Mainland Bridge today. On February 14, 2022, ASUU commenced a strike action to protest the Federal Government’s failure to meet the demands of its members. Amongst which is the non fulfillment by the Federal Government of an agreement it signed with the government in 2009 on Earned Allowances and replacement of Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS, and University Transparency and Accountability Solution, UTAS.
