The Bank Of England-The End Of The £20 And £50 Banknote

The Bank of England will be withdrawing the legal tender status of paper £20 and £50 banknotes after 30 September 2022. What this means is that the £20 and £50 paper banknotes will no longer be legal tender after the 30th of September 2022.

                                 The New £50 Banknote

Sarah John, the Chief cashier of the Bank of England explains what you should do with your old notes.

"You've got until the end of September to use them," she says.

                          The New £20 Banknote.

"So if you've got any at home dig them out, either take it to the shops to spend them or put them in your bank account, after the end of September they won't be legal tender anymore.

"We've obviously moved now to the polymer notes, which are cleaner, safer and stronger." She said.

She went on to elaborate on the features of the new £20 and £50 notes.

The polymer £50 note contains advanced security features, completing the most secure set of Bank of England polymer banknotes yet. The note will join the Churchill £5, the Austen £10 and the Turner £20, meaning all Bank of England banknotes are now available on polymer.
