Festus Keyamo: I Can Drive From Abuja To Kaduna Without Escorts. I Can Do It!

The Minister of State for Labour, Mr Festus Keyamo, during an interview on Channels TV, says he can drive from Abuja to Kaduna without security escorts.

On the interview session on live TV, he was quizzed on if he could drive despite the security challenges, the minister of state for labour and employment, who is also the spokesperson of the presidential campaign of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) said:

“Some people do, I can do it. I can do it. I saw headlines last week saying that I said insecurity has been brought to an all-time low by Buhari. I didn’t say so. It’s still the season of wrong headlines. I said what we met on the ground, Boko Haram in the north-east. I was specific and so they quoted me generally to say Boko Haram and insecurity throughout the whole country. I only said Boko Haram in the north-east, it has not been totally wiped out, but we have reduced this significantly.

“All the roads that lead to Chibok and Damboa in Borno, they are now passable. The issue of the farmer-herder crisis came to a height between 2017 and 2020. The World Terrorism Index said so. Not me. The body also said the attacks reduced so much in 2021. And further reduced again now in 2022. So, it’s a downward spiral in terms of the farmer-herder crisis.

“In terms of banditry and kidnapping, they are on the rise in the north-west and some parts of the middlebelt. I have admitted that."

The 155km Abuja-Kaduna highway has had a long history of insecurity, ranging from banditry, with incidents of extortion, kidnapping, robbery, and murder.

The INEC Boss, made this known in a statement during a meeting with the Senate Committee on Appropriation at the National Assembly. This amount will facilitate the electoral process by aiding the commission to prepare for the election. The INEC Chairman noted however that the commission has already received N100 billion out of the required amount for the elections. The National Assembly is yet to receive a letter from President Muhammad Buhari on his decision to give or withdraw his assent to the Electoral Act Amendment Bill. Man Armed With A Crossbow Told Police He Wanted To “Kill The Queen”

A man who got into the grounds of Windsor Castle armed with a crossbow told police he wanted to “kill the queen,” prosecutors said during a court hearing Wednesday. Jaswant Singh Chail, 20, is charged under the Treason Act with intending to “injure the person of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, or to alarm her Majesty.” He has also been charged with threats to kill and possession of an offensive weapon. Chail was arrested at the royal residence west of London on Christmas Day 2021, when the queen was staying there. Prosecutors allege the former supermarket worker from Southampton in southern England was wearing a hood and a mask and carrying a loaded crossbow with the safety catch off. They say he told a police officer “I am here to kill the Queen,” before he was handcuffed and arrested. Prosecutor Kathryn Selby said the Supersonic X-Bow weapon allegedly carried by Chail had the potential to cause “serious or fatal injuries.” Prosecution lawyers maintain Chail wanted revenge on the Brit...

The Guardian - Atiku ‘outperforms’ Tinubu, Peter Obi on positive ratio metrics – Study shows

A new study has revealed that the presidential candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has outperformed the two other major presidential candidates – Peter Obi of Labour Party and Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC – on positive ratio metrics in all the mentions from all discussions about the presidential candidates across all media platforms and fora reviewed. According to the report which adopted Artificial Intelligence tools to analyse 500,000 mentions of the candidates on both traditional and social media within a one-month period, it revealed that although Atiku Abubakar has less mentions on Twitter compared to Peter Obi, he, however, got more positive sentiments from people than the duo of Tinubu and Peter Obi. This means that people who discussed the candidates said more positive things about Atiku Abubakar than they did for Peter Obi and even expressed lesser positive sentiments about Tinubu. The 46-page document by Cust...
