Mass Shooting At Maryland Manufacturing Facility, At Least 3 Dead, 3 Injured

SMITHSBURG, Md. — At least three people were killed and three others injured –including the suspected gunman and a Maryland State Police trooper – in a mass shooting Thursday at a manufacturing facility north of Smithsburg, authorities said.

The suspect, a male, fled before the sheriff's office arrived, Hose said. A state trooper encountered the suspect and they exchanged gunfire. Both were hit and taken to the hospital.

"The trooper is doing well and the suspect is continuing to be treated," Lt. Col. Bill Dofflemyer, chief of the State Police Criminal Investigation Bureau, said at a Thursday night press conference.

Washington County Sheriff Doug Mullendore identified the victims as Mark Alan Frey, 50; Charles Edward Minnick Jr., 31; and Joshua Robert Wallace, 30. All were employees at the facility. The condition of another employee who was injured in the shooting wasn't immediately available.

The suspect was identified only as a 23-year-old man from West Virginia who also worked at Columbia Machine, which provides concrete products equipment to customers in over 100 countries, according to its website. A motive has not been determined, Mullendore said.

Further details about the suspect, including his name, weren't provided because charges have not yet been filed, Mullendore said. A semi-automatic handgun was used in the shooting, the sheriff said, but he declined to specify the model or caliber.

Great News! Drug Charges Dropped!-Blessing Okagbare

There were strong indications yesterday that the United States may have dropped ‘all charges’ against Nigerian sprinter, Blessing Okagbare, who is serving a 10-year ban over drugs offences. Okagbare was provisionally suspended for testing positive for human growth hormone in July 2021, just hours before her 100m semifinals at Tokyo Olympics. She was later handed a 10-year ban by the world anti-doping agency (WADA). Before then, Okagbare was under investigation by an American agency for some other misdemeanours. The U.S. Federal authorities had searched Okagbare’s cellphone on her return to the country from the Tokyo Olympics and found she had frequently communicated with Eric Lira, a kinesiologist and naturopathic doctor, who was said to have brought ‘misbranded’ versions of the drugs to the U.S. from Central and South America before distributing them to athletes. But a source close to World Athletics told The Guardian yesterday that the U.S. has dropped ‘all charges’ against Oka...

Officer and an Inspector by rank, who publicly justified extortion, on Monday, to members of the public while at his duty post,  has been dismissed by the the Nigerian Police Force. Gele, who was captured in a viral video by a traveller, was dignifying extortion. The Inspector who was attached to the Police Mobile Force 77 Squadron in Okene, Kogi State told the travellers that extortion was a legitimate ground for survival. He spoke confidently about the act, adding that it was an act encouraged by his superiors. Watch the video below: “If I want to collect money, I will collect good money, I dont take ‘change’. I also don’t hide it. Even the IGP is aware, and my former superior told me that if I should take money, I should take the one he would get a cut. “So, if such an act gets me into trouble, he (former superior) will defend me,” Gele spoke confidently to the travellers in pidgin. The Inspector, from Benue State, was enlisted into the Force in ...
