If Peter Obi Agrees To become Kwankwaso's Running Mate, It Will Be Igbos Turn To Be President After Certain Years, NNPP - Chieftain Abdulmumin Jibrin
In an interview with Channels Television on Tuesday, Jibrin Abdulmumin said the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have treated the south-east badly, adding that the best opportunity they have now is an alliance with the NNPP.
Jibrin said for power to come back to the south-east, the geopolitical zone must support Kwankwaso to emerge as the president in the 2023 election.
Abdulmumin Jibrin, a former member of the House of Representatives and a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), reiterated that Igbos will get an opportunity at the presidency in years to come if Peter Obi agrees to be Rabiu Kwankwaso's running mate.
Extracts from Jibrin's statements below:
"The south-east has been extremely treated badly by the APC and the PDP. For anyone in the south-east, they should be able to see that they don’t have a future in the APC or in the PDP,” he said.
"As members of the Labour Party, they should see that the party as it is today cannot propel Peter Obi to the presidency. The only opportunity that they have and which we are offering them is to come [and] do an alliance with NNPP.
"concrete agreement that after Kwankwaso, it is going to be the South-Eastern part of the country's turn."
"Since after Alex Ekwueme, this will be the first time the South East will have that clarity that after certain numbers of years, after this one, it will be our turn."
"This is the first time they will sit on the table with the NNPP to discuss, sign a concrete agreement that after Kwankwaso, it’s going to be the south-eastern part of the country.
"I believe that is the safest route for them to go but again they have their option to decide to hold on to their vote, waste it if they want to just to demonstrate their strength."
