Kim Kardashian Responds To Claims She Damaged Marilyn Monroe's Dress

Kim says;

"There were handlers in gloves that put it on me," the reality TV icon told "Today" in an interview, adding that she wore the gown for just four minutes in total.

Kim Kardashian has broken her silence on claims that she damaged Marilyn Monroeโ€™s vintage gown at last monthโ€™s Met Gala.

Appearing on โ€œTodayโ€ Tuesday, the reality TV icon dismissed media speculation that the dress had been stretched to the point of being โ€œrippedโ€ and โ€œtattered,โ€ and was now missing some of its rhinestones.

"I showed up to the red carpet in a robe and slippers and I put the dress on at the bottom of the carpet, went up the stairs,โ€ Kardashian recalled. โ€œI probably had it on for three minutes, four minutes, and then I changed right at the top of the stairs.โ€

โ€œThere were handlers in gloves that put it on me,โ€ she added.

Elsewhere in the interview, Kardashian said she held deep respect for Monroe, who died in 1962 at age 36, and understood โ€œhow much this dress means to American history.โ€

Monroe wore the shimmery gown โ€• fitted with 2,500 rhinestones on sheer, nude-colored fabric โ€• to President John F. Kennedyโ€™s 45th birthday celebration in 1962, where she crooned a sultry rendition of โ€œHappy Birthday.โ€

Kardashian has been hit with a barrage of criticism after borrowing the dress from its current owner, the Ripleyโ€™s Believe It or Not! museum, for the Met Gala, which she attended with boyfriend Pete Davidson. Among those to publicly disapprove of her wearing the dress was designer Bob Mackie, who sketched the original gown specifically for Monroe.

โ€œNobody else should be seen in that dress,โ€ he told Entertainment Weekly.

The backlash began to intensify last week, after questions about the state in which Kardashian returned the dress were raised by ChadMichael Morrisette, a visual artist who regularly helps handle and display costumes.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), national president, Comrade Joe Ajaero, during the African Trade Union Alliance meeting in Abuja. Has issued a threat to embark on a nationwide strike without any notification if the pump price of fuel sells above the current price of N617. Media reports indicated an imminent increase in the price to N720. The NNPC Limited has not made any official announcement of a fuel price increment According to Ajaero, there were purported plans to further increase the pump price of petrol, which he expressed dismay that the development will cause additional and untold hardship on Nigerians. He said: โ€œAs we are here now, they are contemplating increasing the pump price of petroleum products, and the ministry of labour for some time now would only go to the Ministry of Justice to come up with a so-called injunction to hold the hands of Labour not to respond. But let me say this, Nigerian workers will not give any notice if we have not addressed the consequences of...
