Femi Otedola Pledges $250,000 To Super Eagles Squad

Nigerian Billionaire and Business mogul, Femi Otedola has pledged $250,000 to Super Eagles squad, if they win the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.


The statement was made on behalf of CACOVID by Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, during a visit to the team’s camp in Cameroon.

Emefiele stated that the private-sector-led platform established to assist the government in the fight against Coronavirus in the country will award the Super Eagles squad $120,000 for the six goals they scored during the tournament’s group stage.

Godwin Emefiele, who praised the team, stated that CACOVID has increased the prize money for each goal scored in the round of 16 to $50,000.

He said;

“I came with a message from the CACOVID. The CACOVID is the coalition of private-sector companies that was set up to fight COVID-19 in Nigeria and they have been happy with the performance of the team.”

“During the meeting, I had with the captain (Ahmed Musa) and the coach (Austin Eguavoen), I delivered a message from CACOVID and the message is that, for every goal that is scored, the team will receive the naira equivalent of $20,000 so far, you have earned for yourself the naira equivalent of $120,000. We held a CACOVID meeting again because everyone is overjoyed for everything you’ve done so far, CACOVID has asked me to raise the ante.

For every goal scored from the round of 16, you will earn the naira equivalent of $50,000 as a team. 

Also, Femi Otedola, who is a member of CACOVID, has asked me to tell you that if you lift the trophy, he has in the bank for you, the naira equivalent of $250,000. This is just the beginning and I can assure you that if you win your round of 16 games, another promise might be made.” He concluded.

Prince Charles, Prince Of Wales, Reportedly Accepted Suitcase With 1 Million Euros From Qatari Sheikh

A British newspaper, the Sunday Times, reported the Prince of Wales once accepted a suitcase containing €1 million ($1.05 million) in cash from a Qatari politician. The paper says this was one of three cash donations from Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim totalling three million euros. The suitcase containing €1 million in cash was one of three lots of cash he personally received, totaling €3 million, from former Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani between 2011 and 2015.  The Sunday Times reported on one occasion, Sheikh Hamad gave Prince Charles €1 million reportedly stuffed into carrier bags from the upmarket London department store, Fortnum and Mason. Ghana's Afua Asantewaa Sing-A-Thon

Ms Afua Asantewaa, Ghanaian media personality has completed a five-day singing marathon. Afua Asantewaa Wrapped in her country's flag, she thanked the crowd of supporters in the capital, Accra, for their immense support, in hopes her performance will earn her a Guinness World Record. Beginning on Christmas Eve, Asantewaa performed for 126 hours and 52 minutes. Beating a previous sing-a-thon record by nearly 24 hours, the clearly exhausted, 33-year-old could barely remember what day it was. According to the rules set by Guinness World Records she was allowed a five-minute break every hour, or 20 minutes after four hours.
