Crisis In Ukraine/Russia - Nigerian Government To Airlift Nigerians, Evacuation Begins Wednesday

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, in an interview on Channels Television’s programme, ‘Politics Today,' indicated that President Muhammadu Buhari had approved funds for the airlines to evacuate Nigerians.

The minister said, “I have been in touch with the ambassador. There are about 150 of them who are looking to cross into Russia and we have asked the ambassador in Russia to try and get a permit for them to transit to Russia and hopefully, by Wednesday we will start deploying planes to start bringing the Nigerians."

"There were about 8,000 Nigerians in Ukraine, 5,000 of whom were students. He said.

He also made mentioned that the Federal Government had tipped Air Peace and Air Max to airlift the Nigerians who wanted to be evacuated.

Earlier on he highlighted how the crisis was being tackled to the members of the Federal House of Representatives. He stated this while giving a brief of the evacuation efforts thus far;

"We made Romania the hub and over a thousand Nigerians have crossed there. Poland has about 250, Budapest in Hungary has a similar number, Slovakia is rising rapidly. It is also around 200. There are some Nigerians in a place called Sumy close to the Russian border." He said.

Police Service Commission Suspends Officers Indicted In Abba Kyari's Drug Deal

Police Service Commission (PSC) has suspended officers indicted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) along with suspended DCP Abba Kyari. Former US President Donald Trump Ordered To Testify To January 6 Committee

Trump subpoena: Former President Donald Trump has been issued a legal summons by the congressional panel investigating last year's Capitol riot.  Trump's lawyers were issued a letter by the nine-member panel, saying he must testify, either at the Capitol or by videoconference, “beginning on or about” Nov. 14 and continuing for multiple days if necessary.
