Suspected terrorists yesterday night detonated explosives on the Abuja-Kaduna train and opened fire on about 970 passengers on board. A train carrying over 900 passengers was bombed by suspected terrorists between Rijana and Katari in Kaduna State on Monday night, yesterday. A passenger was reported to have managed and called his relation saying all passengers were lying on the floor as the terrorists were shooting at the train, sporadically. The Kaduna-bound train derailed after explosives believed to be planted on the rail track went off close to Rigasa area of the state. The 6:00p.m. train, which took off from Idu Train Station at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, hit the explosive device about 30 minutes to Rigasa train station in Kaduna at a point between Katari and Rijana community. The Los Angeles Police Department in its statement has confirmed that Chris Rock has “declined to file a police report” following an altercation with Will Smith at the 94th Academy Awards. A full statement from the Los Angeles Police Department reads: “LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program. The former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has formally declared  his ambition to run for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The former vice president, who made the declaration at an elaborate event at the International Conference Center (ICC), in Abuja, also vowed to hand over at the end of his tenure to the younger generation, he also highlighted five areas, he would like to focus on. The event which witnessed the presence of many dignitaries was hosted by the Adamawa State governor, Umaru Fintiri. The former vice president while reeling out some of the plans he has for the country vowed to hand over to a younger generation if elected. He also said he intends to focus on five key areas which he listed as unity of Nigeria, security, economy, education and devolving more resources and powers to the federating units.

The Eagle Square, venue of the party’s convention is agog, as party leaders and delegates gather to elect new members of the National Working Committee (NWC) that will pilot its affairs for the next four years. No fewer than 12,000 delegates that will participate in the elective convention, where sixty-six party officials, including 21 NWC members would be elected by tomorrow. President Muhammadu Buhari has admonished APC leaders to keep their eyes on the ball. Talks are ongoing for a consensus, Adamu, Akume, Al-Makura, others are deliberating. The party bars political appointees from voting at convention. The PDP charges INEC not to monitor APC convention.

Drama, as Obiano’s Wife Slaps Bianca Ojukwu at Soludo’s Inauguration. Drama ensued on Thursday at the inauguration of Prof Chukwuma Soludo as the governor of Anambra when wife of outgoing Gov. Willie Obiano, Ebelechukwu, slapped Mrs Bianca Ojukwu at the event. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent who was at  the scene of the event reports that the incident occurred immediately after Soludo took his oath of office. NAN reports that dignitaries including Ex Gov Obiano were already seated when Mrs Obiano stepped in and moved to the front row where the widow of Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu was seated and slapped her. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) extended its ongoing strike by two months. On February 14 (ASUU) had declared a one-month warning strike in protest against the government’s failure to meet their demands. The Academy Union held an emergency meeting of its National Executive Council (NEC) at the University of Abuja, yesterday. (ASUU) President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, said: “Having taken reports on the engagements of trustees and principal officers with the government, the union concluded that government had failed to satisfactorily address all the issues raised in the 2020 FGN/ASUU Memorandum of Action (MoA) within the four-week roll-over strike period and resolved that the strike be rolled over for another eight weeks to give government more time to address all the issues in concrete terms so that our students will resume as soon as possible.”

A lady, identified as the wife of the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, Abba Kyari, on Monday, fainted at the Federal High Court in Abuja. He was born in 1809, he is the first African Anglican bishop of West Africa, a clergyman and a linguist. He is a Nigerian and was born in Osogun (in what is now Ado-Awaye, Oyo State, Nigeria). At a time of Yoruba civil wars, notably the Owu wars of (1821-1829), his village Oshogun was tackled and Samuel Ajayi Crowther and his family were captured by slave raiders when he was about twelve years old.   Ajayi was later on resold to Portuguese slave dealers, where he was put on board to be transported to the New World through the Atlantic. 1864, Crowther was ordained as the first African bishop of the Anglican Church; he was consecrated a bishop on St Peter's day in 1864, by Charles Longley, Archbishop of Canterbury at Canterbury Cathedral.  The licence from Queen Victoria for his consecration as a bishop authorised and empowered him "Bishop of the United Church of Eng

Super model Hailey Bieber, wife to mega talented super star musician, Justin Bieber has revealed that she suffered a "small blood clot" to her brain, this follows reports she was hospitalized on Thursday, March 10, after suffering stroke-like symptoms. At the hospital, it was discovered that the 25-year-old model suffered a “small blood clot” to her brain which then caused a lack of oxygen. The model calls it “one of the scariest moments” she’s been through but said her body overcame it on its own.
