The Department of State Services (DSS) has revealed that the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, is now in its custody. They made this known in a statement via the agency’s Twitter handle on Saturday, June 10, 2023 The statement read; “The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby confirms that Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria is now in its custody for some investigative reasons. "The public, particularly the media, is enjoined to apply utmost caution in the reportage and narratives concerning this.” Well, Nigerians await further clarification on the CBN governor and his purported arrest.

The Electricity Act 2023 passed by lawmakers in July 2022, has been signed into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Electricity generation licensees are obligated to meet renewable generation obligations as may be prescribed by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission. 3. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele from office with immediate effect. Godwin Emefiele Information Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey Director, on Friday night, in a statement said it is in line with the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy. Emefiele has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will act as the Central Bank Governor pending the conclusion of investigation and the reforms.

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), in the early hours of yesterday, Sunday, pulled down the over 30-year-old popular UTC complex at Area 10, Garki, Abuja - FCT. The administration of the FCT had earlier said that the old complex was overdue for a restructuring, it needed to be demolished and rebuilt.  The FCTA said this was in a bid to create a structure that will grow small and medium enterprises thereby making the shopping mall, suitable for global business needs and challenges. A deputy director, monitoring and inspection in the Department of Development Control, Hassan Ogbole, said the structures were defective and there was the need to upgrade them to the level that would meet global business standards. Ogbole noted that the occupants of the building were given notices to enable them move out and allow the construction to commence, but many of them did not pay attention. The policy restricts foreign students from bringing family members on all but postgraduate research routes. In a statement on Tuesday, the Home Office said the development was necessary to stop people from using the student visa as a backdoor route to work in the UK. "Last year almost half a million student visas were issued while the number of dependants of overseas students has increased by 750% since 2019, to 136,000 people,” the Home Office said. "The new reforms will come into effect for students starting in January next year. The Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual” has been broken by Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci. Chef Hilda Baci The previous record was held by Guinness World Record holder, Chef Lata Tandon, the cooking lasted for 87 hours 45 minutes, a record time. On Monday morning, that record was shattered by Hilda Baci after cooking for a record-breaking 96 hours, setting a new world record for the amount of time spent cooking.
