The policy restricts foreign students from bringing family members on all but postgraduate research routes. In a statement on Tuesday, the Home Office said the development was necessary to stop people from using the student visa as a backdoor route to work in the UK. "Last year almost half a million student visas were issued while the number of dependants of overseas students has increased by 750% since 2019, to 136,000 people,” the Home Office said. "The new reforms will come into effect for students starting in January next year. The Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual” has been broken by Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci. Afro beat musician, Seun Kuti, has been arrested by the Nigerian Police Force. The singer, was taken into custody after he turned himself in at the Lagos State Command of NPF (CID Div). The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has ordered the arrest of Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti, who was captured on video assaulting a police officer in uniform reports the Premium Times. Seun Kuti A video circulating on the internet, the singer was seen hitting an officer. However, in the short clip, the officer didn’t retaliate. The police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Saturday, said the incident occurred in Lagos. Mr Kuti is the youngest child of the late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti. “The IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly,” the statement reads. Max Air aircraft on Sunday crash-landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja after the tyre reportedly burst into flames, according to ThisDay reports.
