Nasir El-Rufai - I Would Have Arrested Peter Obi

Nasir El-Rufai, the Governor of Kaduna State, while addressing the Arewa joint committee, in Kaduna, said that he would have arrested Mr Peter Obi in retaliation of what Peter Obi did to him when he visited the state to monitor an election. In a trending video, El-Rufai alleges that Peter Obi, the former Anambra State governor and the current presidential candidate of the Labour Party, placed him under house arrest for 48 hours in Anambra state during the election. Watch the video below: Mallam El Rufai said, “Before I finish, I want to say that I went to Anambra state for my party to monitor the election, Peter Obi who was a Governor put me under house arrest for 48 hours. “Today, I am the Governor of Kaduna state and he’s coming to Kaduna to campaign and apart from other security agencies, I have the First Mechanized Division of the Army in Kaduna but I will not arrest him because we Northerners are civilized people.”

Minister - Recent Flooding, An Overwhelming Disaster

Nigeria's meteorological agency has warned that flooding is expected to continue until the end of November and some states in the south of the country are likely to experience flooding. States like Anambra, Delta, Rivers, Cross River and Bayelsa. Sadiya Umar Farouk, minister for humanitarian affairs and disaster management, in a press conference on Sunday, called for the evacuation of people living in the most high-risk areas by the local authorities. PMNEWS  • Abuja fatal robbery: Police arrest suspect, recover snatched vehicle. Operatives of Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Command have arrested one Emmanuel Okoi, 29, suspected to be member of a 6-man robbery gang that robbed a pharmacy and killed one person in Maitaima area of the capital city on Wednesday evening. DSP Josephine Adeh,the spokesperson of FCT Police Command who announced this in a statement said the suspect was arrested at Jabi Magajipi, off Eco Bank Junction Jabi area of Abuja where a vehicle stolen during the robbery was also recovered. She added that the suspect was arrested seven hours after the robbery. According to her, an investigation, an identification parade was conducted where the victim identified the suspect as one of his six abductors. She added that investigation has been intensified while the FCT Police Command has ordered manhunt for other members of the robbery gang. The Court Of Appeal Discharges Detained Leader Of The Indigenous People of Biafra, The Court Also Acquitted The Embattled Leader Of The Proscribed Group The Appellate Court Says The Federal Government Lacks Jurisdiction To Trial Nnamdi Kanu On Charges Of Terrorism. The Appellate Court held that the Federal Government breached all local and international laws in the forceful rendition of Kanu to Nigeria thereby making the terrorism charges against him incompetent and unlawful. The Appeal Court in a judgment by Justice Oludotun Adebola voided and set aside the charges by the Federal Government against Kanu. Reacting to the judgment, Kanu’s lawyer and human rights activist, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, on his Facebook page on Thursday, said Kanu won at last. “Appeal allowed, Oyendu Mazi Nnamdi KANU, discharged and acquitted. We have won!,” he wrote.

Maitama, Abuja - One Shot Dead As Suspected ‘Kidnappers’ Strike

  One person was gunned down when men suspected to be kidnappers attacked Gana Street in Maitama, Abuja. The incident is said to have occurred at about 8:46pm on Wednesday. According to the Daily Trust,  a resident, who pleaded anonymity, told Daily Trust that the victim was killed while trying to rescue a man that was being forced into a black Prado SUV by the suspected kidnappers. He specifically said the SUV was parked at Number 44 Gana street where the victim was shot in the head by one of the suspects and he died immediately. The source added that the suspects escaped with their victim while the body of the deceased was still on the street at the time of the incident. He added that this is the second incident happening at the same Gana street in the past few weeks. The resident said some persons loitering around the place may be behind the attacks. MTN, Airtel Announce Increase In Rates for Internet Data Plan

  Nigeria's biggest Telecommunication Companies, MTN and Airtel, have made known the increase in data plan prices to subscribers. With about 10 per cent increase in prices for their internet data services. The increase was made public by MTN(@MTN180) and Airtel(@AirtelNigeria) on their verified Twitter pages.  In March 2020, the Federal Government signed the Nigerian national broadband plan 2020-2025 designed to deliver data download speeds across Nigeria with effective coverage available to at least 90 percent of the population by 2025 at a price not more than N390 per 1GB of data. The Government's plan to achieve a 90% broadband penetration by 2025 may be impeded by the recent hike in data prices by telecom companies.
