The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) extended its ongoing strike by two months. On February 14 (ASUU) had declared a one-month warning strike in protest against the government’s failure to meet their demands. The Academy Union held an emergency meeting of its National Executive Council (NEC) at the University of Abuja, yesterday. (ASUU) President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, said: “Having taken reports on the engagements of trustees and principal officers with the government, the union concluded that government had failed to satisfactorily address all the issues raised in the 2020 FGN/ASUU Memorandum of Action (MoA) within the four-week roll-over strike period and resolved that the strike be rolled over for another eight weeks to give government more time to address all the issues in concrete terms so that our students will resume as soon as possible.”

A lady, identified as the wife of the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, Abba Kyari, on Monday, fainted at the Federal High Court in Abuja. Reason behind the slump has not been ascertained but eyewitness said she slumped on the ground shortly after trial Justice Emeka Nwite deferred ruling on applications that DCP Kyari and six other persons facing drug trafficking charge with him, filed to be released on bail pending the determination of the case against them She fell on the floor while armed operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, were leading Kyari and the others away from the court premises. He was born in 1809, he is the first African Anglican bishop of West Africa, a clergyman and a linguist. He is a Nigerian and was born in Osogun (in what is now Ado-Awaye, Oyo State, Nigeria). Super model Hailey Bieber, wife to mega talented super star musician, Justin Bieber has revealed that she suffered a "small blood clot" to her brain, this follows reports she was hospitalized on Thursday, March 10, after suffering stroke-like symptoms. At the hospital, it was discovered that the 25-year-old model suffered a “small blood clot” to her brain which then caused a lack of oxygen. The model calls it “one of the scariest moments” she’s been through but said her body overcame it on its own. Former President Barack Obama has tested positive for Covid-19, according to a tweet from his official account.  Former president ‘had a scratchy throat but fine otherwise’Michelle Obama negative and both are boosted, tweet says. "I just tested positive for Covid,” the former president, 60, said in a tweet on Sunday. “I’ve had a scratchy throat for a couple days, but am feeling fine otherwise. Jussie Smollett has been sentenced Thursday to 150 days in jail for staging a hate crime against himself, the former Empire actor, 39, was taken into custody immediately, screaming as he left the Chicago courtroom. "I'm not suicidal, and I am innocent," he yelled before disappearing through the door. With a fist in the air, he added, "I could have said I was guilty a long time ago." Black Panther director Ryan Coogler was mistaken for a bank robber and briefly arrested at a Georgia bank. Coogler, 35, who was quietly standing at the counter, having passed a female teller a handwritten note asking her to discreetly withdraw the cash from his account.  'Woah, woah woah,' he said, clearly taken aback on realizing he was being apprehended, as an officer orders him to put his hands behind his back.  'You got it, you got it,' he said. Chidinma Ojukwu, is Miss Cell 2022 in Kirikiri Correctional Centre.  The young lady who went viral some months ago over the alleged killing of Super TV boss, Michael Ataga, has now been crowned beauty queen at a pageant at the correctional facility. Ojukwu emerged the winner of the competition. In an exclusive chat with Daily Trust, the National Spokesperson, Nigeria Correctional Service, Francis Enobore, confirmed the news explaining the reason behind the beauty pageant. The spokesman noted that part of the services of the correctional facility is to ensure that inmates are in ‘sound and good spirit.’ Enobore further stated that to ensure that inmates are in a high spirit, the correctional centres engage them in exciting competitions likes; pageantry, cooking competitions among others. The Permanent Secretary of the Minister Of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Gabriel Aduda shared photos of the Nigerians boarding at the Chopin Airport, Warsaw. The Federal Government had arranged evacuation flights for Nigerians who have made it across the Ukrainian borders into neighbouring countries. In a video shared by Mohammed Abubakar, an Atiku devotee. Former senator for Kogi West, Dino Melaye appeared to have embarked on the Atiku Abubakar train. In a trending video, Melaye spoke at an interaction between Atiku and some senators in Abuja, with Dino explaining why he is on Atiku’s side and not Saraki’s. A video of a Nigerian police officer at an event, carrying food for a female very important personality (VIP) went viral.  The Nigeria Police Force Headquarters reacted to the viral video.  The Police force has cautioned its members to desist from unprofessional conduct and be professional in the discharge of their duty. A police officer was captured on camera carrying a female VIP’s food tray at an event in Ilorin, Kwara state’s capital. While reacting to the video, the acting Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi  told Punch that the police officer has been identified and summoned to Abuja. "He (the policeman) has been identified."  "He is coming to Abuja to meet us. We’ll ask question from him and take necessary action. We need to discourage such a thing because it is embarrassing the image of the Force and we can’t continue to be experiencing that kind of a thing because it is highly unprofessional.” He reiterated.

About 115 young men, yesterday, offered to join Ukraine in its fight against Russia. The men, who besieged the Ukraine Embassy in Abuja, also put down their names in a register provided by the embassy. The volunteers may have been responding to a recent call by Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, urging people around the world to join the fight. In a statement released last Sunday, the President accused the Russian army of killing civilians and praised Ukrainians for having the courage to defend themselves. He said that the assault by Russia was not just “Russia’s invasion of Ukraine” but also the beginning of a war against democracy and basic human rights. Zelensky had called on anyone who wished to join the defense of Ukraine, Europe and the world to come and fight side by side with Ukrainians. This is all happening at a time Nigerians in Ukraine are struggling to return home.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, in an interview on Channels Television’s programme, ‘Politics Today,' indicated that President Muhammadu Buhari had approved funds for the airlines to evacuate Nigerians.
