Plot To Install An Interim Government - DSS, Confirms Plot

The Department of State Services, DSS, has issued a statement saying that it has confirmed plot to install an interim national government.  This it said is in order to stop the inauguration of the executive and the legislature at the federal and state levels, thereby truncating the result of the recently-concluded general elections is real. Dr. Peter Afunanya, a spokesman for the DSS, revealed this in a statement, he said that the agency had identified some of the masterminds but no names were mentioned. A Benue High Court on Monday ordered Ayu to stop parading himself as national chairman of the PDP pending determination of the suit before it. The National Working Committee, NWC of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), acting on the order, yesterday, confirmed its Deputy National Chairman (North), Amb. Umar Illiya Damagum, as acting national chairman after Ayu, stepped aside in honor to the court order.  The PDP NWC took the decision at an emergency meeting, yesterday reports the Vanguard news. Ayu will cease to function as national chairman until the court says otherwise. Stakeholders in the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who want the National Chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, to quit the position, have succeeded, at least in the interim. Labour Planned Strike Action Postponed By Two Weeks - The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC)

On Tuesday in Abuja at the end of their National Executive Council meetings, the Presidents of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Festus Osifo, issued a joint press conference. Ajaero said after obtaining feedback from the union’s state councils in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, the NLC decided to defer the planned stay-at-home directive given to workers last week. Thus, the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress have decided to suspend their planned strike aimed at protesting the scarcity of naira notes, which was earlier scheduled for today, Wednesday. The two unions said they would monitor the availability of cash in commercial banks for two weeks before deciding on the next line of action. So Sad! A Shooter Murdered Three Children And Three Adults At Elementary School In Nashville, Tennessee

The three pupils who died were all aged nine. The child victims have been named as Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs and William Kinney. The adult victims were named as Cynthia Peak, 61, Katherine Koonce, 60, and Mike Hill, 61. Police said the suspect gained entry by shooting through a door at the school. A search of their home led to officers seizing more firearms. The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Audrey Hale, officers said. There has been some confusion about Hale's gender identity - with police initially describing the attacker as a woman, and later saying that Hale identified as transgender. A section of a five-storey building in popular Balogun Market, Lagos Island was today, Tuesday gutted by fire, the cause and magnitude of the fire are yet unknown. However, emergency response units, the police, security agencies and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), arrived at the scene of the fire and carried out a rescue operation. Breaking! Court of Appeal Dismisses PDP’s Suit Against Tinubu, Shettima On Double Nomination

Actions by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to get the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima disqualified by the courts for an alleged double nomination of Shettima have hit a brick wall at the Court of Appeal. On Friday, the court held that the PDP does not have the locus standi to institute, maintain or demand the reliefs it sought as it was not an aspirant in the primaries of the APC and that Section 285 (14) (c ) of the 1999 Constitution does not grant it locus to challenge either the primaries or the nomination of Shettima. The appeal was consequently dismissed by the Court for want of merit and awarded in favour of each of the respondents, namely APC, its Presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Senator Shettima and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the sum of N5 million. Breaking! Naira Scarcity - NLC Declares Nationwide Strike Action

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has directed public sector workers in the country to embark on strike on Wednesday next week. The NLC president, Joe Ajaero, gave the directive at a media briefing in Abuja on Wednesday. He also directed that affiliate unions constituting the NLC should be on standby for picketing exercises across all branches of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) nationwide. The NLC had earlier issued a seven-day ultimatum to the federal government to end the petrol and cash scarcity being encountered in the country. Ajaero told journalists, that following the expiration of the ultimatum given, the industrial action became the last resolve of the NLC. He also said that the federal government and the CBN have failed to show any commitment to addressing the dilemma, so the decision to picket CBN branches became necessary.
