L'Oréal, Françoise Bettencourt Meyers - Amass A Fortune Of $100bn

Well, a ranking of the richest people in the world, places L'Oréal heiress Françoise Bettencourt Meyers as the first woman to amass a fortune of $100bn (£78.5bn; €90.1bn).

Ms Bettencourt Meyers, is ranked the 12th richest person in the world, her net worth crossed $100bn on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Seventy years old, Ms Bettencourt Meyers is the vice-chairperson of the company's board. She and her family are the biggest shareholders of L'Oréal with a single stake of around 35%.

On Thursday, the company hit it's best stock market performance in decades. Keeping it on track. with shares rising to a record high in Paris.

The French beauty empire and the world's leading company in cosmetics and beauty, L'Oréal was founded by Ms Bettencourt Meyers's grandfather, Eugène Paul Louis Schueller, he was a French pharmacist and entrepreneur.

The lockdown during the pandemic, had people making less use of makeup. However the firm has seen its sales rebound.

Françoise Bettencourt Meyers net worth is nonetheless a distance away from French counterpart Bernard Arnault, who was second on the list with a net worth of $179bn. Mr Arnault is the founder of LVMH, the world's biggest luxury group, which owns a portfolio of high-end brands including Fendi and Louis Vuitton.

The French businesswoman, is a billionaire heiress, a philanthropist, a writer and the richest woman in the world, with an estimated net worth of US$100 billion as of December 2023, according to Forbes.
