Hard Times - Abuja Women Sell Their Gold Jewellery

Wow! Things are definitely getting tougher by the day. God help us!

The Abuja Gold market at Wuse Zone 5, Abuja was flocked with women wanting to not buy gold jewellery but rather sell their gold jewellery to the gold sellers/merchants.

The women complained bitterly of the present economic hardship and the dire need to raise money for children's school fees, and other bills.

One of the women opened up, she said:

"I bought my gold before I got married but today I am forced to sell it. Things are hard. My husband is not aware, I did not tell him. We need to pay the children's school fees.

I will just let him know that I have been able to raise the money."

I watched her keenly and just like she said, she placed a call and I could hear her say,

"Honey, I have sent the money to the woman...."

Suddenly, her weary countenance changed into a broad smile. I guess her sacrifice met with gratitude from a grateful husband.

I beamed in admiration at her selfless act.

Soon I began to ponder, if things don't get better, how many more things will Nigerians have to sell?

Food for thought indeed....

The United States, Looks IntoTest Requirement For International Travel.

U.S. Lifts COVID-19 Test Requirement For International Travel. The Biden administration is lifting its requirement that international air travelers to the U.S. take a COVID-19 test within a day before boarding their flights. A senior administration official said the mandate expires Sunday at 12:01 a.m. EDT, saying the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has determined that it’s no longer necessary. The official, speaking Friday on the condition of anonymity to preview the formal announcement, said that the agency would reevaluate the need for the testing requirement every 90 days and that it could be reinstated if a troubling new variant emerges. The Biden administration put in place the testing requirement last year, as it moved away from restrictions that banned nonessential travel from several dozen countries — most of Europe, China, Brazil, South Africa, India and Iran — and instead focuses on classifying individuals by the risk they pose to others. It came in conjunction wi...

N500/liter to N617/litre - The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Rejects Another Increase In Pump Price Of Fuel

Joe Ajaero, President of NLC NLC, in a statement by its President, Joe Ajaero, said; “We woke up this morning (Tuesday) to the news that NNPCL has increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from the hitherto draconian N500/liter to N617/litre. “This is despite the suffering and hardship that Nigerians have had to go through as a result of the original hike on May 29, as part of President Tinubu’s inaugural gift to Nigerians. “An 18 percent increase in the price of fuel at this time of great difficulties for our people is sadistic and totally unacceptable. "The NLC considers this most insensitive and horrendous and smirks of a triumphalism by this government against the masses of this country. “It looks like a feeling by those in government that the people have become a conquered people that they can treat anyhow they like without repercussions and this demonstrates why it has taken pleasure in inflicting more and more pains and sorrow on the people “We strongly condemn...
