NLC To Embark On A Strike Action If....

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), national president, Comrade Joe Ajaero, during the African Trade Union Alliance meeting in Abuja. Has issued a threat to embark on a nationwide strike without any notification if the pump price of fuel sells above the current price of N617. Media reports indicated an imminent increase in the price to N720. The NNPC Limited has not made any official announcement of a fuel price increment According to Ajaero, there were purported plans to further increase the pump price of petrol, which he expressed dismay that the development will cause additional and untold hardship on Nigerians. He said: “As we are here now, they are contemplating increasing the pump price of petroleum products, and the ministry of labour for some time now would only go to the Ministry of Justice to come up with a so-called injunction to hold the hands of Labour not to respond. BREAKING: Another Nationwide Strike Action Says NLC - Threatens

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has threatened to commence a fresh nationwide strike on August 14, 2023, should the Federal Ministry of Justice fail to withdraw the lawsuit filed against the organized labour. NLC noted that though it agreed to suspend protests based on its meeting with the President, it will embark on a nationwide strike starting from August 14, 2023, should the government fail to withdraw the lawsuit filed against it. Highlighting the decisions of the NEC, Ajaero said the NEC resolved “to support and affirm the decision to suspend further protest on the nationwide mass protest; to commit to maintaining the required vigilance needed to hold government accountable on its assurances and governance in general. To commit to the terminal date of August 19, 2023, within which the issues around the Petroleum price hike will be agreed given the assurances of the President and the National Assembly.

Pharmaceutical Giant GSK Announces Its Intention To Cease Operation In Nigeria

British multinational drugmaker and biotechnology company GlaxoSmithKline Plc (GSK) said Thursday it is closing the curtains on its Nigerian subsidiary after a “strategic intent” to consider other favourable business options. The Company made this announcement via an official statement signed by Company Secretary, Frederick Ichekwai which was sent to the Nigeria Exchange Limited (NGX).  According to its unaudited HY 2023 financial statement, the company noted that it would appoint a local third-party distributor in Nigeria for the supply of its consumer healthcare products.  GSK’s operations in Nigeria will no longer involve commercialising its prescription drugs and vaccines, meaning its activities in the country now entail the distribution of its pharmaceutical products through a third party only. “The Haleon Group has also separately informed the Board of its intent to terminate its distribution agreement in the coming months and to appoint a third-party distributor in Nigeria for t

A 3,000 Years old ancient Egyptian prosthesis is a beautiful work of Art.  Egypt Museum Hey history lovers, a must read below: The artificial big toe was found on the foot of an Egyptian mummy.                              The Prosthetic Toe - Cairo Museum.  The prosthetic, recovered by Swiss researchers at the necropolis of Sheikh Abd el-Qurna, belonged to a woman and was finely carved to make it aesthetically pleasing and comfortable. It could prove to be the world's earliest functioning prosthetic body part. It is one of the oldest ever found. Volunteers who have lost their right big toe are now being recruited to see how effective replicas of the prosthesis are.  The fake toe from the Cairo museum in Egypt was found in 2000 in a tomb near the ancient city of Thebes.  Archaeologists speculated the 50- to 60-year-old woman the prosthesis came from might have lost her toe due to complications from diabetes.  The wood and leather prosthesis dates from 1069 to 664 B.C., based on art

Breaking! Plane Crash In Lagos

There is a video making the rounds on social media of an alleged plane crash in the city of Lagos. What is reported to be small aircraft which cannot easily be identified is said to have crashed at Oba Akran and gone up in flames. What appears to be two guys narrating what happened can be heard in the video below. The chopper crashed into a building and went up in flames. Four people narrowly escaped death The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services confirmed the incident.
